Set Your Goals

I’m sure you are thinking, “Here we go again” The same old, same old goal setting information. Yes, you are absolutely right. Here We Go Again…… Why? Because if you don’t have goals and know where you want to be, you will never know when you get there. You must have something that you can measure against. If you are not getting the results you want then you must change your actions, increase your effective activities and reduce time wasting activities.

Make sure that you break down your main goal into small bite size chunk. Review the activity that gave you the results you achieved in 2011

Here’s an example:

  • Prospects = 400
  • Appointments = 100
  • Sales = 50
  • Average sale value = £400
  • Income = £20,000

If you want to have an income of £40,000 then you have a number of options.

  1. Use the same skills and see double the amount of people. Maybe you have no more time in the day to do this?
  2. Improve Sales/Marketing skills to improve conversion rates;
  3. Increase average sale value by selling up;
  4. Sell more products to each customer.

So, can you see how important it is to have goals that you can measure? The alternative is that you muddle along from day to day and hope tomorrow will be a better day.

Commit to what you are going to do.

I truly believe you can achieve whatever you want if you want it enough. Commit to paper, your goals and what it means to you. The road to success isn’t always easy. In fact most times it is hard. It requires commitment, focused effort and an attitude that allows you to overcome obstacles and not give up.

Think about the benefits your prospective customers will get by using your product. If you don’t believe in your product or service, go and find someone who does. Talk to them and find out why they are so passionate about it. Speak to some of your existing customers and find out how they have benefitted from using your product/service.

If none of this gives you passion and belief about your product, then go and find something else to sell. You may think this is harsh but I promise you if you don’t truly believe in what you are selling no one else will. When the going gets tough, take a break, and think about the reasons for doing what you’re doing and then whatever the obstacle is, write it down, followed by all of the options you have to find a way around the problem.

If you can’t find a way forward, brainstorm with a friend or group of friends, colleagues or even your spouse or partner. The key is to always “Find A Way” and keep moving forward. The alternative is far more stressful.
